About this site

CEO Paycheck shows what the people who run large US nonprofits are paid, using the numbers each organization reports to the IRS, with a link to the filing.

The numbers are already public. Every nonprofit that files a Form 990 has to list what it pays its officers and top staff. Finding the right return, year and line takes time, and a lot of what shows up in search is an estimate. This site reads the IRS's e-file data, shows each figure with its parts and its fiscal year, and links to the return so you can check it.

What the site won't do

  • Estimate, round or combine figures. If a return reports a number, the site shows it. If it doesn't, the site says so.
  • Make pages about individuals. People appear only on the page of the organization that reported their pay.
  • Comment on whether anyone is paid too much or too little. That's for you to decide.

How it's made

Software reads the IRS data and builds the pages, so the numbers are copied, not retyped. AI tools help draft the explanations, and a person reviews them before they go up. The methodology page has the details.

How it's paid for

The site shows ads. Advertisers have no say over what appears here, and no organization pays to be listed or left out.
